Do you know the existence of Faustus?

well, i came across this certain book that mentioned Faustus.
seriously, i was puzzled with the sudden urge, but still,
i took a day or two to read afew of it's acts.
Through Faustus, im beginning to see the divine mystery of God's forgiving nature,
but i fail to understand why.
What makes Mephostophilis to flee when he heard God's name?
What makes him to have the thought of going against God when hes afraid of him?
Why humans like to rely on God when they cant even see him?
Why humans believe in God when some dont even know about his story?
Why humans are flawed?
Why humans commit seven deadly sins?
And what makes God so forgiving?
